Las agencias policiales locales de Georgia están cooperando cada vez más con las autoridades federales de inmigración, impulsadas tanto por incentivos financieros como por la legislación estatal que exige la colaboración con ICE. Aunque algunas oficinas de alguaciles han expandido sus alianzas para formar acuerdos de fuerzas de trabajo bajo el programa 287(g), la presión para aumentar la participación local también ha desatado resistencia comunitaria y provocado que al menos un municipio rechace un contrato federal propuesto.
